In this Forage Center Conversation, Katie Zanoni discusses her work employing various research methodologies and completing monitoring and evaluation work. She provides insight on how early-career professionals can explore work using data analysis. She also describes her own professional track, and how different career trajectories can be followed in the humanitarian realm.

Katie Zanoni holds an Ed.D. in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco (2018). Zanoni's scholarship and practice explores transformative approaches to peacebuilding, human rights, and social justice in education in diverse contexts. She has 20 years of experience in program design and management in the education and nonprofit sector working with organizations including the International Rescue Committee and the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice. As an instructional designer, Zanoni developed curriculum as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, a Stanford Human Rights Education Initiative fellow, and as the co-founder of Education for Transformation for programs in Kenya and Myanmar. After Zanoni obtained her Master’s degree in Peace and Justice Studies at the University of San Diego (2006), she co-founded and lectured in the first Peace Studies Associate Degree program at San Diego City College and developed courses on conflict resolution and sustainability for the college. As a mother-scholar, her research interests include critical peace education, gender transformative human rights education, women leaders in peacebuilding, and conflict transformation through educational policy.
