Natalie Costa, often referred to as Talie, is in her junior year of her undergraduate degree. She is studying communication and hopes to pursue work in the humanitarian, videography, and marketing fields. She enjoys any creative endeavors and studying world cultures. She plans to apply her education to implement programs and strategies to better the communities that are unseen.

Talie interned with the Forage Center this summer, working with David J. Smith, president of the Forage Center, and Catherine Cousar, administrative specialist, to create a new social media marketing plan. Here, she reflects on her experiences in conversation with Catherine Cousar.

What was the most interesting thing you learned or did while interning with the Forage Center?

The most interesting thing I learned was the core value of using role-play/simulation work for humanitarian education. Experiential education is hard to understand if the applicants only look at papers and videos. 

What skills or experience from your internship do you think you will be able to use in the future?

A skill I will use in the future is delivering a project in an organized manner. This outline and structure is crucial for your coworkers/employees to understand the message you'd like to send.

What is next for you?

In the next couple of years, I will graduate with my bachelor's degree. I hope to work with a nonprofit to help their online representation.
