The Forage Center for Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Education Receives $8,000 Grant from The Biosophical Institute to Support Project on Global Peacebuilding and Humanitarianism

The Forage Center for Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Education is proud to announce it has received an $8,000 grant from The Biosophical Institute to support its project Peacebuilding and Humanitarianism at a Crossroads.
The Biosophical Institute, based in Bath, Maine, is a non-profit private foundation. Through its Center for P.E.A.C.E. and Community, it advances a mission to cultivate a community and culture of peace encompassing life wisdom and deep relationships through character and peace education.
The Forage Center initiative aims to advance humanitarian education and training and peacebuilding awareness at a critical moment when both areas are under threat. As global crises intensify and federal cuts reduce support for humanitarian and international development programs, professionals and organizations dedicated to this work are seeking new ways to collaborate and sustain crucial impact.
“We are deeply grateful to The Biosophical Institute for this generous support,” said David J. Smith, President of the Forage Center. “We are at a critical crossroads in humanitarian and peacebuilding practice. This grant will enable us to explore new opportunities to assist those seeking to make positive change in the world. It helps us continue to prepare the next generation of peacebuilders and humanitarian professionals.”
The project will feature a one-day virtual conference that will bring together leaders, educators, and emerging professionals in the humanitarian and peacebuilding fields. The event will be preceded by an evening, in-person networking reception in the Washington, DC area, including a panel discussion with experts reflecting on the current state of the sector and exploring future directions with a focus on individual professional opportunities. The event is planned for spring 2026. More information about the event will be posted on the Forage Center website by the end of 2025.
