Kate Fergus Joins the Forage Center

The Forage Center for Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Education is pleased to announce that Kate Fergus has joined the team as its communications manager.

Kate is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.A. English) and American University (M.A. literature). She received her EMT certification in 2015 from the University of Maryland’s Fire and Rescue Institute.

She has 15 years of experience as an editor and communications professional specializing in small nonprofits. She is a former fire & rescue EMT trained in disaster response and emergency management and is currently a member of the Maryland Medical Reserve Corps serving in COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinics.

Forage Center president David J. Smith says, “Kate brings important skills in editing, writing, and planning that are essential as the Forage Center looks to start in-person programming in 2022. We are glad she is part of our team.”

Kate is the point person for administrative and logistical matters for the Forage Center. She will work closely with president David J. Smith in managing the center's day-to-day operations.
